Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 10, 2025
This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It’s written for Memory Anchor (“we”, “us”). This page is for information only and isn’t legal advice.
What we collect
- Local app stats (on your device): attempts, success rate, streaks, timestamps. Stored in your browser
localStorage; not sent to our server by default. - Technical diagnostics: basic device/browser info, pages visited, performance logs, and error events.
- Analytics (consent-based): anonymized or pseudonymous event data to understand usage (e.g., feature engagement). We don’t collect sensitive categories.
- Voluntary info: if you contact us or sign up for updates (name, email, message contents). If we offer payments (“Supporter Mode”), card details are handled by a payment processor—we don’t store them.
Why we collect it
- Provide the service: run the tool, remember your progress on the same device.
- Improve and secure: debug issues, prevent abuse, measure quality, and ship better features.
- Communicate: respond to support, send updates if you opted in (you can opt out anytime).
- Compliance: keep records required by law and honor consent choices.
Legal bases (where applicable)
- Consent: analytics/ads cookies (where required).
- Legitimate interests: basic diagnostics, security, product improvement.
- Contract/steps prior: providing features you request.
- Legal obligation: records and responses we must keep.
Cookies, localStorage, and similar tech
We use localStorage for on-device stats and may use cookies or similar for strictly necessary operations and—if you allow—analytics/measurement. You can clear data in your browser at any time. Your consent preferences (where presented) control optional cookies.
Data sharing
- Service providers: hosting, analytics (if enabled), email delivery, payment processing. They’re bound to use data only for our instructions.
- Legal/security: to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect users and the service.
- No selling of personal data.
Retention
Local app stats live in your browser until you clear them. Server-side support emails and logs are kept only as long as needed for operations, security, or legal obligations.
Your rights
- EEA/UK (GDPR): access, rectify, erase, restrict, portability, object, and withdraw consent.
- Jamaica (Data Protection Act): similar rights to access, correction, and deletion.
- US states (e.g., CA/VA/CO/etc.): rights to access, delete, correct, and opt-out of “sale/share” or targeted ads. We don’t sell personal data. Use the choices below to manage optional analytics.
Your choices
- Consent banner / preferences: if shown, use it to enable/disable optional analytics.
Shortcut: Open privacy choices. - Browser controls: clear site data, block cookies, use tracking protections.
- Local stats reset: in the app, clear progress (or run
localStorage.removeItem('ma:v1')in DevTools if you’re technical).
International transfers
If data is processed outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses) where required.
Children
The service isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your region). If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we’ll address it.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be highlighted here. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
